1. How does the world feel?

I like the vibe of the forest so far. I think it would be even better with the right lighting.

2. How does player movement and camera movement feel?

I liked the player movement. It felt smooth. I did have some trouble with the camera using a trackpad and I think it might have been easier to spot the monster if it was tied to the mouse.

3. General things you like?

The level design so far and I like the PC (pickle character)

4. General things you don't like?

I had no clue the monster was close to me until I was dead

5. What do you wish the game did?

I wish there was some sort of audio cue that the monster was nearby

6. General reaction/comments?

I'm excited to see how things develop from here!

-Does the game provide too much or not enough assistance to the player in terms of solving puzzles?

I think there is a little too much assistance to the player. I like the help, but it might be better it was more like hints than telling the player where to go.

-Are there any specific puzzles/mechanics you would like to see?

Nothing other than just more puzzles. I think the spells already in place are enough to make some cool puzzles.

-Does this room look like a spaceship room?

Yeah, I could see that but it could benefit from more things like panels and maybe modified furniture.

-Does the walking seem intuitive?

It took me a second to figure out that you click to move rather than use WASD. The movement speed really kills me, I wish it was faster.

-Does the spell usage seem intuitive?

Open Sesame and Find-Goal were intuitive, yes. But I don't have any clue what Hocus-Pocus or Abracadabra do.

-Does the information in the text box help?

Yes, it helped me to figure out what to do. I don't think I would have gotten to the key if I didn't have a guide.

  • How does movement feel?

I like the movement and speed.

  • How does the camera feel?

The camera is a little tough to control. I think I would like it better if it followed where the player is going.

  • How does the level feel so far?

I really enjoy the aesthetic of it! And I think the layout is nice. I did have some issues where colliders were off (I walked through walls and fell endlessly, the table makes me bounce backwards if I walk into it, I have to jump to get up the stairs).

  • How do the controls feel?

They were pretty standard. But if there were any other than WASD and space bar, then I think we should have a tutorial for the controls.

  • What types of cards or upgrades would you like to see?

I would like to see something that would alter your opponent's affection rating. Or maybe a protection spell so their next turn is nullified.

  • What types of enemies would you like to see added to the game?

I think it would be really cool to have an easter egg where you fight Penn and Teller or something.

  • Does the overall movement of the affection slider feel good?

It looks nice! Maybe if you could add a magicky animation whenever the bar moves? Like basic sparkles or something

  • Is there any other additions you would like to see?

I would love to see art for the cards rather than just the black boxes. Not necessarily unique pics for all of them, but more card-like.

  • How does the pacing of the game feel, is it too fast or too slow?
The game felt too fast. I could only get to about the 3rd or 4th level before I ran out of time, and I was making a beeline to the modules.
  • In what ways might we be able to improve the challenge and the 'hectic-ness' of the game beyond the difficulty of the modules and timing?
I agree that adding time when you repair a module would be great, so you're not locked in to a specific time frame for everything.
The room could be more maze-like so you have to plan your route a bit more carefully.  Along with that, you could have certain obstacles that would slow Ernie down, like wet flooring or maybe you get an electric shock.
  • Would you like to see Ernie have abilities/upgrades and if so what would you like to see?
It would be nice to have some sort of time-slowing ability or difficulty adjustment as the game gets more fast-paced
  • Not exactly game breaking, but I kept colliding with things that didn't seem like they would be obstacles (like little dots on the ground, but I could walk through walls
  1. How do you feel about the brief puzzle mechanics?
I thought they were pretty straightforward and easy to understand. It didn't take a lot of time to figure out the green boxes are pressure plates, but I think the game would benefit from them being animated somehow.
  2. Were you able to figure them out relatively quickly with a bit of trial and error?
The puzzles weren't very difficult, though I would not have known you could go into the pit without dying. Otherwise, I enjoyed the puzzles
  3. Did you get an understanding of the physics of the current body parts that were present?
I figured out the physics of the hands and feet through trial and error, but I think it would have been nice to have a tutorial
  1. What upgrades/weapons would you like to see in the game? I think it would be cool to have upgraded damage resistance
  2. What was your favorite mechanic? How do you think it can be improved? My favorite mechanic was the
  3. What did you dislike and why? I didn't like how the upgrades at the console didn't seem to do anything, but maybe they will feel more significant when there's more going on. The screws and springs also seem to be glitched. When I bought an upgrade with screws, then the amount of springs I had also went down. I would also like to see some sort of indicator that there are toxic areas. I didn't realize that's what they were until I saw another comment.
  4. Did you feel like anything was missing and what? There wasn't any sort of big conflict (particularly a lack of nuclear meltdown), but I assume that's on the way :)
  5. Was there something you tried to do but couldn’t? I wanted to loot the lockers
  6. Did you find the art aesthetic to be cohesive? I enjoyed the art style and it felt cohesive to me!
  7. Did the controls feel natural? I liked the movement, but the shooting felt unnatural. I would have liked it more if you shot where your mouse was or something like that, rather than where your robot was facing.

I first played Oxenfree on Xbox Game Pass and I absolutely adore it. I was instantly hooked and finished it in one sitting. I can't recommend it enough, I love it
